Health Insurance

Highlands Community Services (HCS) offers a United Healthcare of the River Valley Health Plan, Delta Dental and EyeMed/VSP Vision Insurance to full-time, provisional and full-time, regular status employees.  Effective the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.

Retirement

After successful completion of a six month provisional employment period, each full-time regular employee is eligible to participate in the HCS’ retirement plan. Based on the employee’s anniversary date, a 403(b) retirement account is established in the employee’s name. HCS contributes an amount equal to 9% of the employee’s base annual wages to this account on a monthly basis. The employee may contribute to the plan, if desired.

Life Insurance

After successful completion of the six month provisional employment period, HCS pays the monthly premiums for a term life insurance policy equal to one times the employee’s annual base salary, rounded up to the nearest thousand. Each employee may purchase insurance coverage for themselves or for dependents by paying an additional monthly premium.

Short-Term Disability

After successful completion of the six month provisional period, HCS pays the monthly premiums for a short-term disability policy, which provides employees with 50% of their monthly salary should they become disabled through sickness or injury.  Employees have the option of purchasing extra Short Term Disability coverage by paying an additional premium.

Voluntary Benefit Offerings

Full-time employees are eligible for the following voluntary insurance benefit offerings upon hire: Cancer, Accident, Personal Recovery, Intensive Care, and Long-Term Disability. Premiums are deducted with pre-tax dollars, with the exception of Long-Term Disability.

Paid Time Off (PTO)

Paid time off (PTO) is an integrated time-off with pay program that combines all earned time-off opportunities into one PTO account.
